What is an Ashlar?

In traditional stonecraft, an ashlar is a block that has been worked until it is perfectly rectangular and smooth. While "rubble masonry" uses irregular, unworked stones, ashlar masonry is used for the world's finest structures because the blocks fit together with incredible precision.
